Jay Z and Young Jeezy are in the club

They premier the remix to a record that captures a feeling of the time

My President Is Black

In fact, he’s half white so even in a racist mind he’s half right

So if you have a racist mind you be aight

My president is black but his house is all white

Jay Z, only a few years after coming back from retirement, was visibly excited as they repeated the song multiple times

The crowd, loving every moment of it, was increasingly more energetic every time the chorus came around

It was a historic moment

This was the first time since Shirley Chisholm and Jesse Jackson that there was a Black democratic candidate for president and if that wasn’t enough Barack got the nomination and won

There are children who grew up only knowing their president as Barack Hussien Obama

What was enough of that it was parodied by Richard Pyror, Eddie Murphy, and immortalized in Chris Rock’s Head of State happened.

And the world didn’t end

“If you are apart of that lucky generation of like 25 that were young enough to be impressionable and old enough to be cognitive to the Head of State. I’m from the generation that watched and laughed at that movie then see the first Black president”

— Chance The Rapper, DJ Semtex Interview

The First Family was such a class act.

It’s rare that a First Lady has a superior resume and pedigree than her husband

Sasha and Malia both are hard working, intelligent Black women

Before joining both her parents alma mater, Harvard, she will intern for Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham

Obama responded to the birthed argument of him being born in Kenya by comedically showing the opening song of the Lion King

He championed My Brother’s Keeper a “coordinated Federal effort to address persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color and ensure that all young people can reach full potential”

My Brother’s Keeper is to encourage professional and dignity within the urban communities

It received a boost from a summit of rappers and entertainers at the White House including Snapchat legend DJ Khaled and Grammy nominated Nicki Minaj

For both campaign trails Obama tapped the Carters

Jay Z endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 Martin walked so Barack could fly and crystallized their partnership by changing the lyrics of 99 Problems to relate to the 2012 opponent Romney

I got 99 problems but a Mitt ain’t one

Beyonce sung the national anthem at the inauguration and the Etta James class At Last during the Obama’s first dance after becoming president

“Know the this country belongs to you. To all of you

From every background and walk of life. The infusion of new cultures, talents and ideas that has made us the greatest county on Earth

With a lot of hard work and a good education anything is possible even becoming president

Our glorious diversity, our diversity of faiths and colors and creeds that is not a threat to who we are

It makes us who we are
Do not ever let anyone make you feel like you don’t matter, or like you don’t have a place in our American story because you do.
And you have a right to be exactly who you are”

— Michelle Obama, First Lady Last Address

His mic drop at the end of the Correspondence Dinner is tales of legend
